360° Analysis For Peer Feedback

Using the 360° Analysis to Obtain Feedback

If you want to know what others think of you, just ask them, right? Wrong! Confronted directly, some people might tell you what they think you want to hear. Others may be unduly critical. In any case, neither response is likely to be helpful to you.

The 360° Analysis takes some of the fear out of feedback by providing a nonthreatening, systematic, reliable method of gathering others’ perceptions of your behavior. In contrast to a face-to-face confrontation, this process is structured so that it is completely confidential. This increases the likelihood that those you’ve chosen to participate will respond to the inventory items openly and honestly.

How the 360° Analysis Works

  1. You register for the Leadership Analysis seminar.
  2. You identify five “Feedback Providers” within your organization: One manager, two peers, and two direct-reports or customers).
  3. Hillsdale will mail the 360° Analysis material to you 4-6 weeks prior to the seminar. You will distribute the materials to your chosen “Feedback Providers."
  4. "Feedback Providers” will return the completed 360° Analysis material directly to Hillsdale.
  5. Hillsdale will notify you (by email) of any missing feedback 10 days prior to the seminar.
  6. You are responsible for all 360° Analysis materials to be completed and returned to Hillsdale a minimum of 5 business days prior to the seminar.
  7. Hillsdale will:
  • Confidentially score all feedback
  • Provide you with a composite of scored materials during the seminar
  • Incorporate the 360° Analysis into your private consultation during the seminar
