Competencies for Leaders

Competencies for Leaders is based on the Management Effectiveness Profile System (MEPS), a 360° feedback tool that assists managers in evaluating their on-the-job competencies. The diagnosis measures competencies as perceived by those who work closely with you compared to your self-perception of performance. You will learn best practice strategies, models for each competency and their future application.

Competencies for Leaders is delivered by contract only. We recommend (but don’t require) that you first complete our flagship program, Leadership Analysis, to establish a comprehensive baseline leadership assessment. Participants will include key-level leaders through middle to upper-level managers from a diverse cross-section of business and industry.

Workshop Focus

Best-practice core competencies have proven to be essential for leadership success. Through assessment, you will discover practical ways to increase your managerial effectiveness in problem solving, decision making, time management, goal setting, planning, motivating performance, organizing, team development, managing stress, maintaining integrity, demonstrating commitment and communicating effectively.

Interactive workshops and instructional activities are used to understand each area and model best-practice methods of efficient and effective management in each area. You will craft your own high performance leadership strategy for your area of responsibility.

Outcomes/Results

  • Receive viable 360° feedback on management effectiveness.
  • Enhance personal management effectiveness in specific task, interpersonal and personal skills.
  • Improve competencies in skill areas as identified by participant feedback.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses from detailed and specific feedback in order to target performance improvements.
  • Learn useful models and benchmark practices for competencies.
  • Create a personal, self-directed action plan for future leadership/management development.

Personalized Feedback Report

You will receive a detailed feedback notebook that contains visual comparison, item-by-item, of "self" and "others." Raw data scores are measured against a world-class, best-practice database. All scoring is conducted by a third-party computerized system to ensure absolute confidentiality, and all information is kept confidential. Hillsdale keeps no records and makes no reports back to your organization.
